Florida Unemployment Claim How to Sign Up

If you have been terminated or laid off from your job, you may be entitled to Unemployment Compensation Benefits (UCB) under Florida state law. The filing process is easy, and can be done online from your home or any library.

Gather all the information requested. You will need these documents in order to apply.

Go to the Agency for Workforce Innovation's "UCB" page, which gives basic information on UCB, including the contact number to call with any questions. Scroll down to "On-Line Services" and click on "Internet Unemployment Compensation Claim Application (Initial Claim)."

Click on "Claim Form in English."

Answer "Yes" if you are filing the unemployment claim for yourself and hit "Submit." Then enter your zip code and hit "Submit."

Read the page and check all three check boxes before hitting the "I agree" button at the bottom of the page.

Answer all questions. Once your application is completed, you will get a confirmation page. Print this for your records. You may need it for proof that you have applied.

Two weeks after you file your initial claim, you will need to "claim your weeks." Go back to the Florida UCB page and click on "Claim Your Weeks (Continued Claims Application), Establish or Change Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) or Obtain Specific Information About Your Claim." Here you can get the status of your claim or get your money if you have already been approved. You will have to do this every 2 weeks or until you start working again. If your claim is denied, you may appeal it. Call the customer service number if you need more information.

In order to continue receiving unemployment you will need to complete an activity with your One Stop Career Center. You will get information in the mail regarding this.

* Social security number
