How to File Alabama Unemployment Claim Online
If you have recently become unemployed and live in the state of Alabama, you can file your unemployment claim online. Filing online can save you the time and expense of driving to your local state office to file for unemployment. It is easy and can be done from any computer.
At first go to the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations website www.dir.alabama.gov and click onto the Unemployment Compensation Claims and Benefits Facts page.
Then click How to File a Claim.
Gather everything you need, including the following: Social Security number; work history for the past 18 months that includes the business phone number, address, telephone number and dates of employment; an alien registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen; a copy of your military release paperwork if you were in the military in the past 18 months; your Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) certification letter and/or TAA petition number, if applicable; and the name and number of your local union hiring hall if you were hired through a union.
Decide if you want direct deposit for your benefits; if so, you will need your bank routing and account number and a telephone number where you can be reached during regular business hours.
Enter the required information and make sure the final page reads that your claim has been submitted. If you do not see that page, your claim is not finished and wont be processed.
File your weekly certification online once your unemployment compensation has been approved by returning to the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations website and clicking the button that asks if you would like to file weekly claim certification.
